The old man that owned the gun had a picture of his grandfather sitting his mount with the old colt and a 30 Winchester in the scabbard down on the border. When cows were rustled in NM, they would ride down to old Mexico and gather them plus the extras that were among them and bring them back to NM. This gun had ended up in the hands of a New Mexico Cowboy that rode for the livestock commission. He confirmed all that I had said of the revolver plus added that the gun was in the Custer range but was one of several revolvers that got stolen on their way to the 7th Cavalry. I recommend sending the gun to John Kopec out in California and called John to arrange inspection. One got me very excited because it fell into the Custer Colt Serial Number Range!
